Paper breathing a new start. Drafts, repetition, edits. Now craft from the head. Filled with details. Record.
Draft, compose formulate, outline, pen, scribble, set down. Make the reader think. Refine. Edit. Rewrite. Revise. Polish it up. Redraft and recast.
Voice: The unique personality or tone of the author. The powers of a word following a word. A dream, a movement. “Writing is driving a car at night.”
Syntax – the arrangement of words and phrases to create well-formed sentences. “Kill your darlings.” A goal from the soul. Prose your written language in its ordinary form, without metrical structure. “…cross out the wrong words.”
I must write. Couldn’t find it, so wrote it. “Writing is a way of seeing.”
Diction: dictate the choice and use of words and phrases. “Writing is a way of bleeding.”
Conventions: The mechanical correctness of writing (think spelling, punctuation, grammar). Break conventions where it fits. Narrative: The story or account of events. Express: Phrase, couch, articulate, word it. “Show, don’t tell.” Serve only purpose. Just write.
